Registration is now open for the Monson Memorial Classic which is being held on November 12th in Monson, Massachusetts. The Monson Memorial Classic offers runners the opportunity to run either a half-marathon or a 5K course in the town of Monson.

The half-marathon is the feature race and has great prize money for those runners looking to push themselves on the course with a chance of placing. The course is scenic but quite challenging and many runners have dubbed this race as being the toughest half-marathon they have ever run.

The post-race food is all homemade and features an excellent assortment of pastas and soups that can be enjoyed while runners listen to live music from a phenomenal bluegrass band after the race. Runners who register for the half-marathon will receive a shirt and a pint glass!

The Monson Memorial Classic prides itself on giving back to the community. The Monson Memorial Classic road race was started in 1996, shortly after the deaths of Kelly Waldron and Kathy Waldron Perry. These sisters died eight months apart from different types of cancer; Kathy suffered with melanoma, and Kelly had breast, bone, and liver cancer. They were wonderful, loving people and the race is held annually in their memory with past year proceeds having gone to American Cancer Association of Western Mass, American Lung Association, Quaboag Valley Hospice, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year, all proceeds from the Monson Memorial Classic will be donated to Griffin’s Friends
